I was at a Harris Teeter that had, amidst other delicious things, an entire wall of Blue Bell ice cream. The power went out in the store for some reason so the manager told us we should take as much food as we wanted for free, so it didn’t go to waste.

Actually, coughing into your hand can be more likely to spread germs than coughing into open air. The germs transfer to your hand instead of dissipating in air, thus making it easier to spread germs through handshakes, transfer to objects, and the like. Coughing into a tissue or your shoulder is probably the best solution.
